The Ministry of Environment of Rwanda drafted a concept note for the project “Engage private sector in climate change adaptation through improved forest management in the North-West of Rwanda for feeding efficient low emission cooking solutions for urban areas (EPAFLEC)”. Luxembourg Cooperation agreed to support this project. The objective of the project is to implement sustainable forest management by restoring degraded forests and plantations and using the wood residues to produce clean cooking pellets for urban households to replace charcoal. Communities with forests will also be supported with income-generating activities. Luxembourg Cooperation asked Unique to prepare a complete technical and financial project (12 Mio. EUR) document in close cooperation with the Ministry and other stakeholders.
