The World Bank BioCarbon Fund Initiative for Sustainable Forest Landscapes (ISFL) has been developing the Oromia Forested Landscape Program (OFLP). ISFL is keen to include livestock emissions in the emission reduction purchase agreements (ERPA), which is in line with the ISFL methodology for comprehensive landscape carbon accounting. In order to support OFLP stakeholders to consider inclusion of livestock in a future ERPA, more evidence is required on the potential scale of emission reductions from livestock as well as the associated cost of livestock emission reductions and related investment needs. Unique supported OFLP stakeholders in preparing essential technical elements required for inclusion of livestock emissions in the second phase OFLP ERPA and strengthen national capacities for livestock monitoring, reporting and verification.
- Supporting implementation of the improvement plan for the Tier 2 cattle GHG inventory in Oromia
- Estimation of the livestock mitigation potential and associated costs of emission reductions in Oromia
- Improvement of data collection and reporting needs for the national livestock GHG inventory
- Strengthen national capacities to report & monitor livestock nationally determined contributions measures
