Araku Valley Livelihoods Project - Zertifizierungssupport

The Adivasi tribes living in the Araku Valley are considered among the most disadvantaged in the country. These marginalized communities live in a region characterized by low women’s literacy rates, high infant and maternal mortality and low agricultural productivity. The Livelihoods Carbon Fund (LCF) supports the Naandi Foundation to develop a community based agroforestry project reaching 100,000 people in 300 villages. Within this project, the communities themselves have planted fruit trees and coffee plants on 6,000 hectares to restore their degraded forests and as a future income source. LCF provides upfront financing for project development and maintenance and receives carbon credits registered under Verified Carbon Standard. The project is verified every 3-4 years.
