From 2021 to 2024, the “Promotion of Agroforestry Project in Katete District” supported the planting of one million trees by about 4,000 small-scale farmers. Additionally, 250 participating livestock farmers planted 70 hectares of pasture and green manures, producing about 100 tons of hay bales. Furthermore, 24 public schools established nurseries and planted the seedlings around their schools. Due to these results, the Zambian and German Ministry of Agriculture agreed to extend the project for nine months to consolidate the results and prepare an up-scaling scenario. The project elaborated eight agroforestry modules describing the technical, organizational, and social approaches. The up-scaling scenario towards six districts was elaborated with a working group at the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture in Lusaka.
