Environmental degradation poses significant challenges to Zambia and Tanzania’s woodland and savanna ecosystems. These areas suffer from recurring wildfires and significant deforestation rates, threatening biodiversity and local communities. The project aimed to conserve these unique ecosystems and their biodiversity while sequestering carbon through improved fire management, reduced deforestation and forest degradation emissions, and potential afforestation to combat climate change. Unique was selected for its expertise in land-use carbon projects to conduct a pre-feasibility study. This study assessed the viability of generating carbon credits under recognized standards.
- Pre-feasibility study conduction on carbon projects
- Project areas mapping and identify suitable carbon models
- Performance of high-level risk analysis and opportunity assessment
- Provision of actionable recommendations for project development
