Blue Carbon Asset Development in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu

The successful development of blue carbon projects in the coastal regions of West Bengal and Tamil Nadu require comprehensive assessments and methodologies to ensure sustainability and community engagement. The objective of the project was to assess the potential for blue carbon and coastal agroforestry projects and provide viable project designs. Additionally, the project aimed to deliver capacity-building activities and workshops to ensure knowledge transfer. The World Bank Group is the main client, focusing on sustainable land use projects, including forestry, agriculture, and carbon asset development. Unique was selected due to its extensive experience and expertise in developing and monitoring carbon projects, particularly in mangrove restoration and smallholder projects in South- and Southeast Asia, including India.
