The World Bank
Today, agrifood systems account for about a third of global Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions. Without dedicated mitigation action, GHG emissions from the agrifood system alone will put the goals of the Paris Agreement out of reach. At the same time, agri-food systems are highly vulnerable to climate change, so adapting these systems is of utmost importance. This assignment aimed to develop an approach paper for the World Bank for a new generation of country-level Food System Climate Action Plans (FS-CAPs). The FS-CAPs aim to identify policies and investments facilitating the transition to low-emission and climate-resilient food systems.
- Definition of FS-CAP structure and modules
- Description of guiding questions, approach, data needs, and sources for each FS-CAP module
- Outline of stakeholders to be involved in each FS-CAP module
- Preparation of a concise Approach Paper guiding country teams on FS-CAP preparation
- Communication of Approach Paper to World Bank staff and World Bank clients
