Small Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in developing countries complement traditional Official Development Assistance organizations but often have significant challenges finding appropriate sources of funding. Through its Small Grant funding window, the German International Climate Initiative (IKI) has created a competitive funding opportunity for NGOs that align with the goals of the IKI and meet certain criteria. GIZ was tasked with screening and evaluating the funding proposals of the 2023 small grant tender. The objective of the assignment was to analyze and evaluate the submitted funding proposals, and to prepare an objective basis for the final selection by the donor. Unique was selected due to its in-depth understanding of the IKI funding priorities, its networks, and its own activities related to Forest Landscape Restoration.
