Deforestation Studies

In Senegal and Zambia, agriculture and forestry are the main drivers of deforestation. The client, a private investor, recognizes the importance of promoting business and consumption models that are consistent with biodiversity conservation, sustainable resource use, and climate change mitigation and adaptation. Unique was tasked with conducting comprehensive deforestation studies to deepen the understanding of existing environmental risks. These studies included detailed assessments of the drivers of deforestation in each country, focusing on key agricultural commodities known to drive deforestation and forest degradation. By identifying stakeholders along commodity value chains and mapping deforestation hotspots, trends and associated risks, these assessments aimed to inform targeted strategies for sustainable land management and conservation.
