Deforestation Studies

Agriculture and forestry are the main drivers of deforestation in Senegal and Zambia. The private investor client recognizes the importance of promoting business and consumption models consistent with biodiversity conservation, sustainable resource use, and climate change mitigation and adaptation. Unique was tasked with conducting comprehensive deforestation studies to deepen understanding of environmental risks. These studies included detailed assessments of the drivers of deforestation in each country, focusing on key agricultural commodities that drive deforestation and forest degradation. By identifying stakeholders along commodity value chains and mapping deforestation hotspots, trends, and associated risks, these assessments aimed to inform targeted strategies for sustainable land management and conservation.
