In 2022 and 2023, the LUBW have been carrying out a mapping of the breeding patterns for red kites, black kits and honey buzzards in Baden-Württemberg in a representative sample. The systematic monitoring of the red kite is of particular importance, since it is considered both a bio-indicator in agricultural landscapes and bird species that is sensitive to wind power. Unique has been commissioned to map these species. The mapping is being carried out using a uniform method on five quadrants of the topographic map in the southwest of Baden-Württemberg, which are representative of the Upper Rhine and parts of the Black Forest. Unique has already successfully delivered similar objectives for LUBW in 2013, 2018 and 2020. With a comprehensive mapping over several years, the long-term population development can be monitored.
- Processing of old data for the quadrants and field maps, processing the main findings
- Organization of mapping by specialized ornithologists
- Recording of breeding forests and ideally nest locations, including photographic documentation
- Creation of a final report with processed data and interpretations
