The Government of Viet Nam is committed to conserve its forest biodiversity and to enhance the sustainable use of forest ecosystem services. The GIZ biodiversity program of Viet Nam supports these efforts since 2014. In 2017, Germany and Vietnam decided to extend the successful cooperation with the aim to further improve the legal framework for forest biodiversity and governance. Due to its technical and country expertise, UNIQUE was contracted to continue the support to the program and its partners under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in this second phase. Specific assignments were conducted on topics identified by the GIZ and program partners related to protected area management and financing, Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) and biodiversity monitoring.
