National Forest Inventory

For efficient forest management, the availability of valid data on forest conditions is crucial. This data provides the information needed for policy and strategic decision-making. Against this background, Georgia’s Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection is preparing a National Forest Inventory (NFI). This serves as a solid basis for sustainable and multifunctional forest management. The NFI is a key element of the future forest information and monitoring system, which should provide reliable information on the condition and potential uses of the forests. UNIQUE participated in the NFI design study in 2016. For this reason, UNIQUE was mandated to assist the NFI Task Force in the preparation of the NFI implementation.
