National Forest Strategy and Establishment of Natura 2000

In Montenegro, the institutional and technical framework conditions for a sustainable forest sector development should be improved. The Great Duchy of Luxembourg supported this process under the framework of the “Forestry Development in Montenegro (FODEMO)” project, funded by LuxDev, with the EU funding the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA) forestry project. FODEMO aimed at improving the institutional and technical framework conditions for sustainable forest sector development and the IPA-funded component focused on capacity building in the forestry sector and the final implementation of results of the FODEMO project. UNIQUE led the project consortium with the Slovenian consultancy OIKOS. The project elaborated a national forest strategy for Montenegro and facilitated targeted training for theoretical and practical capacity building.
