Congo Nile Ridge Environmental Management Project

The Congo Nile Ridge Foothills Integrated Environmental Management Project is implemented by Caritas Rwanda and Muhanga district government and comprises a range of activities aiming at the improvement of rural livelihoods and environmental protection. Key activities are the introduction of best practice agriculture, agroforestry and forestry adapted to the local context, the establishment and maintenance of terraces, installment of biogas-plants in selected households, introduction of improved cook stoves and rain water harvesting technologies. Caritas Diocese Kabgayi invited UNIQUE to support the implementation of the project, including planning, training, technical advice and monitoring. Particular focus is placed on capacity building of district, project and extension staff.
