The Gatsby Charitable Foundation supports the scoping and design of a Kenyan commercial forestry sector program. The overall objective of the program is to assist the growth of the commercial forestry sector in a responsible manner. Program activities reinforce the sector’s competitiveness through improved planting material, silviculture and value added activities. These measures are adapted to ensure the broad participation of farmers with the aim of transitioning towards an inclusive sector that integrates small and medium sized landholders and creates sustainable livelihood opportunities along the forestry value chain. UNIQUE provided timber market advisory services and recommendations for organizational developments in the country.
