Client

Forest Stewardship Council International (FSC)

Between 2015 and 2019, FSC International conducted risk assessments in 60 countries to identify forest products from unacceptable sources. With the expiration of the current approach, a review of national risk assessments was tendered under the new framework “FSC-PRO-60-006b,” which has been aligned with the EU Deforestation Regulation. The primary goal is to harmonize these assessments with the updated framework, expand their scope to include both forest management and chain of custody, and provide companies with a comprehensive risk assessment tool. Unique was commissioned to review the current risk assessment for Germany, identify gaps, and conduct research on 76 specific indicators, considering country-specific conditions. The objective was to deliver a new, refined risk assessment that incorporates feedback from FSC and other key stakeholders.

  • Evaluation of the existing risk assessment for Germany against the new framework
  • Preparation of the revised risk assessment
  • Stakeholder consultation
  • Incorporation of feedback from FSC and other stakeholders
  • Finalization of the revised risk assessment
