Development Support - Forest Information & Monitoring System

The Government of Georgia is implementing a transformational forest sector reform agenda, which will put the entire nation’s forests under the framework for sustainable forest management (SFM). In order to support the implementation, Unique was commissioned to provide technical and planning support to the further development of Georgia’s Forestry Information and Monitoring System (FIMS). The main tasks include supporting the Georgian partners in the conceptualization, building and implementation of a forest information and monitoring system as well as supporting and supervising the Georgian institutions and software companies building the application. The objective of the project was also to support the Georgian forestry institutions to implement, maintain and make optimal use of the information for SFM.
