As one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change, Tanzania receives financial support from the Least Developed Countries Fund (LDCF) in order to implement the “Ecosystem-Based Adaptation for Rural Resilience in Tanzania” (EbARR) project. It aims to increase the climate resilience of rural communities by strengthening ecosystem resilience and diversifying livelihoods. UNIQUE was commissioned to work in close collaboration with the VPO, Ministries of Agriculture, and Livestock and Fisheries, as well as district technicians, to assess climate vulnerability. In this context, UNIQUE supported the assessment of vulnerability to climate change impacts across five districts, the identifification of priority adaptation activities per sector, and the selection of specific project interventions for priority wards in the project districts.
- Develop climate projections at the regional level (for the five project districts).
- Develop and assess indicators for climate change-affected ecosystem services.
- Establish risk maps for drought, flood, pest and diseases risk zones etc.
- Conduct participatory climate change vulnerability and impact assessment.
- Coordinate multi-stakeholder workshops for participatory selection of Ecosystem-Based Adaptation measures.
