The non-government organization Albertine Rift Conservation Society and the Livelihoods Carbon Fund are implementing the Arcos-Livlihoods LCF2 Project across 15,000 hectares in the landscape in Rulindo and Bugesera districts in northern and south-eastern Rwanda. The project aims to mitigate the impact of land and agro-ecosystem degradation and climate-change related hazards. The project will plant about 3.7 million agroforestry, fruit & woodlot trees, primarily on 26,000 hectares of smallholder farmer agricultural land. The project is expected to sequester 2.3 – 3.5 million tons of CO2 over 20 years. UNIQUE will be supporting the project over the next 10 years by providing all relevant services to register and certify this project under VERRA Standard.
