Under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Green Climate Fund (GCF) has been established to provide countries with climate finance for mitigation and adaptation activities. The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has entrusted the German development cooperation (GIZ) and the German Development Bank (KfW) to support countries to access finance from the GCF through the Climate Finance Readiness Program. Ten pilot countries have been selected for this support program, including Tajikistan. In order to identify Tajikistan’s climate investment priorities, GIZ and KfW conducted a joint scoping mission. UNIQUE, based on its land use sector specific expertise in Central Asia, was contracted to prepare for and support GIZ during the scoping mission.
- Supporting scoping mission preparation.
- Compiling background information on climate change planning and the institutional framework.
- Assessment of existing climate finance projects and programs.
- Attendance, reporting and strategic support of the scoping mission.
- Preparation of agreed minutes and summary reports of the mission.
